Sunday in the Park (ciTrix jam)

By cTrix on January 15, 2012 6:13 pm

OMG IT'S NOT A CHIPTUNE!  I threw this together in 6 hours between midnight - 5am our time.  All played in live takes: Kawai ES1 Stage Piano, Roland SPD20 pads (with a bit a fixing!! I was using a sustain pedal as the kick trigger) running Drummix VSTi for drum sounds (I'm in love) and Yamaha bass with 5 year old strings.  I unfortunately left coming up with the chorus until last and you can hear how tired the piano playing is at those points!  Oh well, I hope you enjoy and I'll try to do more on this kinda tip - hopefully with some guitar added in next time.

Fucking awesome.

Smoooooth.  Those drums sound pretty darn good and I dig the e-piano.  Good vibes.

It's jazz time! so cool!

chill bro. i like the drums

Totally inspirational!

8-D i enjoyed your melody in the verse sections.  it tells a great story.  aside from being awesome, this is song is really well composed, performed and recorded.  cheers!

wonderful smile

Wow, I'm blown away. This is absolutely fantastic!

I can definitely see myself in the park, but can't quite make out what I'm eating.

Late night recording rules!

chillaxtastic

awesome

@roboctopus: (re: dig the e-piano) The Kawai ES really deserves credit for that - they are wonderful keyboards and this is recorded with no processing.  Mine is 10 years old now and still m' baby even if she's only been powered up a few times in the last 4 years.  Will change that. Thanks everyone - this was a last minute hack together for me so I appreciate the kind words :-)

You pulled it off man! This track is seriously awesome haha big_smile

Oh man I'm playing Sim City 3000 again. Awesome.

never expected this genre fomr you, but this is sick. It's right out of the sims lol.

Even though it isn't chiptune, it still shows off what an awesome musician you are! I wish I could throw something this good together in just a few hours =/

heart

great and lovely track. thank you for not being obvious!

Man you're good under pressure...

Very nice.

So smooth.

Great drum programming. Did you play them in with a keyboard and them fix them up or program them straight. Nice anyway

Great Tunes!
But same question as Bitwise? Did you play all the part, or Did you play it Live or fix them by hand?
I really like the melody and where it takes me!
Even if i like when there are some reverb and some crunchy old vinyl sound, We can say it's good Jazz ^^

yes! love to see also this kind of stuff here (meaning non-electronic)

Sounds like Wii Sports! (That's a good thing)

Excellent stuff Ctrix.  It's great to hear artists delving into other styles successfully.  Keep up the experimenting!

Nice! Was quite enjoyable smile

whoa! cool surprise.  i'm really loving hearing all of you guys non-chip stuff around here. a good portion of you guys are really talented.  amazing stuff. those drums sound great.

It was done partially with an SPD20 and partially programmed in piano roll by hand.  Bass / Piano are just live takes.
