Icy swim

By Crash Overture on March 22, 2026 3:39 pm

Got to sit with Garageband this week and play around with the different synths. Then Friday BTS's album came out, and I had that on in the background. A bit inspired by Swim, but more ambient, and icy and well me. And a little editing done in Audicity because I still haven't quite figured out fades in garageband. My best guess is my ipad is a little too old.

Every week i think 'this is the week I am finally gonna sing!" but matching words to music is very difficult. >.< Hopefully soon.

Still going for that mysterious feel. So It was a mysterious March, which geeze, that really slipped through my fingers.

Nice, builds well and mysterious! I particularly like the wobbly pad that comes in just after the first choir part, it wobbles just right.

Yay GarageBand! 🎸Looking forward to your singing tracks but your instrumentals are awesome already. I love the groove in this one, and that choral pad adds some really cool tension!

There's a really nice tape-loop element to this that I absolutely love, almost polyrhythmic at time, and the tones on everything are so warm and comforting, really beautiful.

hooray for mysterious march! really strong vibe. also stoked to hear some vocals at some point  smile

the years i do WB seem to change time - in some ways freezing it in time in a certain way but it also FLIES by so fast!

this is lovely & mysterious

*i'm not sure if "fading" is the same as "automation?" but if it is - in garageband you can turn that on or off under MIX in the header options i.e. FILE EDIT TRACK RECORD MIX etc.

you then click on the line that runs through the track & make little dots & move them around to adjust the vol. in each of the tracks - and if you enable a master track you can do that on there as well - not sure how different the desktop options are from the ipad so this might not be helpful...
