One Point One

By Cow Tools on January 2, 2026 8:18 pm

It has been two months since I played drums, and two years since I recorded drums.  My goal for 2026 is to write one song a month, and upload one part at a time.  today I spent an hour recording drums, then put a little organ piece with it.  Mostly I tried to remember HOW to record stuff.

All improv, I'll add to it next week and we'll see where it goes!

Welcome back!  This sounds like a cool idea to build songs up each week.  The organ and drums make for a fun vibe already.  It'll be interesting to see how it changes.

Thank you!  I'm just so busy, it's hard to write a whole song a week for me.  But I still want to participate and push myself creatively.  Plus this will be a whole new way of doing things for me, basically just layering my own improv on top of itself.  Thanks for listening!

This is really cool! That organ is fire, sorta gives an Animals vibe at the current iteration.
Was it from a keyboard or computer, or do you just have some secret organ hidden away in your house?

YES. Even with the incomplete arrangement this just makes me incredibly happy. Sounds like a couple mates just jamming in a basement. Reminds me of playing in bands and hanging out at other peoples rehearsals. Excited to see where you take this!

I love the jaunty organs and the LET'S GO moment at the end! Absolute happy banger!

Love the drumming!  The laid-back riff, tom groove, and rock-out right at the very end are all begging to get sampled under that BY-NC-SA license and chopped into a future WB tongue

Digging on the organ. It almost has a fair type atmosphere to it. Especially like as the drumming picks up toward the end.  Getting a pretty great snare tone out of your set up too.  Would be interested to hear if Nanoloop gets involved in this song as it develops.  I used to use the OG Nanoloop on Gameboy back in the day.  I would be interested to hear how it has progressed since.

How many mics on those drums btw?  Just curious as to the setup because there's the famous Cobain quote about The Sonics getting the best drum sound out of a single overhead mic in a garage.

The drums sound great! gj gj

Fun romp - I love the organ/drums combo. Very mid-century, to the point where I'm seeing the fashion and tiki-inspired decor as I listen.

Funny little tune! Organ + drums is a great combo, I am playing in a trio with organ+guitar+drums and it's a blast! Grooving together is the biggest factor to it sounding good, so doing it solo is an extra challenge I feel. Organ bass -> hard to do but can rock your socks. i think when u do drums yourself u can try to copy the groove on organ so u hit the bass and the kick at the same time, for that extra oomph..

Just a keyboard I bought at a thrift store for $20.  Laid the mic on top and just came up with a little line.  Thanks!

Sample away!

Thanks for the comment!  I also like the quick bit of drums at the end, though I think the song is too long overall.  Might trim it down.

And yes, you guessed it, one overhead mic!  I love my snare, it sounds good no matter what I do with it.  The big advantage of multiple mics is being able to control levels in post.  But for most of the stuff I do, it's not worth the hassle.

this is awesome!  I LOVE the idea of adding on to your tracks on week at a time.  glad you are back!

song might not be long, we have no idea what else you are going to add on to it this month!

cheers shoutout to AHAH

Thank you so much!  I added a bassline and harmonica to it this week.  Don't like it, but liked doing it.  Might re-record the bass next week.  Enjoyed the process, haven't played bass in 6 months at least!  and AHAH is doing great!  lol

I like it, it's a little bit goofy.
