Cow Tools - Omega Muffin Part Two

By Cow Tools on May 10, 2024 11:08 pm

For this week's challenge, I just wanted to take a song from someone else, and then add to it.  So I started listening to songs with the CC license, and this one popped up.  Never heard of NineRowBlooms, but I really liked this track.  The music was so good, there was nothing left to add but vocals.  I don't have much experience with rap, but did my best to write some rhymes.

Lyrics:

Omega Muffin, Part Two

I open up my eyes
The day peeking through the sky
My dreams fade away
And I start to realize

That although I always try
Just like other girls and guys
I’m still depressed as hell
And some days I wanna cry…

Out as loud as I can
For someone to understand
No matter what I do
It never goes as planned

If you’re a woman or a man
Or even non-binary
Gender-fluid, gender-queer
Or something else entirely

It’s okay to be upset
I hope you stay mad
But we’re all in this together
Whether good or whether bad

Whether grand or rather bland
We all could use a hand
We all say “fuck the system”
We all say “damn the man”

I live in Albuquerque
We’re always working
Even those who do well
Are always kind of hurting

Plenty of people on the streets
Sidewalk full of tents
That’s where they have to sleep
That’s where they pay their rent

So I try to do my best
Not to be stressed
But it’s harder every day
When the world is such a mess

Everyone is depressed
And it’s really just a guess
But it seems to me the ones
in charge couldn’t care less

So we wake up every day
Find another way
To just keep on repeatin
The same things we always say

It’s all been said before
There’s plenty more in store
But we have to make sure
Every option is explored

What else can we do?
None of this is new
We just tryin to survive
Tryin to make it through

Tryin to make a few
Connections there with you
We all need the support
And I know you need it too

Fun idea to use a pre-existing song and the music lent itself well to having a rap over it.  Super relatable lyrics as well.  I think we could all use a little support and to know that others are feeling the same sorts of things.

this is SO TIGHT

shout out to NineCowTools!
great job!

damn this is cool, reminds me of the tracks we'd record with my friends as kids, except you know this is so much better

Thanks so much, Cosmic.  I appreciate you taking the time to listen, and to read.  I really liked the raw track, so it was fun to work with!

Thank you OrangeDrink!  That means a lot coming from someone who raps a lot!

I definitely grew up writing punk songs as a kid, not rap songs.  So the idea of "fast lyrics" and lots of words is pretty easy for me, but the flow and content is a lot different.  Thanks for listening!

Thanks for choosing my track! Love what you've done with it smile
