Interpretive Math

The incomparable Bobby Bergland was passing through town again this week and I managed to grab some lovely vocals out of him.  He also added a certain elegant sloppiness that is ineffable but I think really adds something to this track.

Are that beer bottles in the background???
I like your cheerful melodies! And the punk beat is great.
By the way, how do you record your Tracks? From your last Song i guess that you don't use a DAW with unlimited tracks...

cheers,
Gunnar

That "backwards" guitar sound works really well. Fun vocals.

The song became kind of weird and spooky. Great beachboyesque vocals and zappaesque guitars. I like your livingroom-fieldrecording, too.

Awesome trip of a song! I figured you'd be posting a track with Bobby so I thought I would submit one with him too! This one put a smile on my face smile

I've used beer bottles before but this time I used some oddly shaped empty glassware in the hopes of getting a slightly different sound.  I record on ProTools.

Thanks!  It was a fun night and I think this track reflects that a little bit.

Thanks!  We were getting a little carried away that night and at first we kind of threw too much stuff into the mix.  I pruned it a little, but I also wanted to keep a little bit of that feeling so that's what happens at the end.

Yeah, I think the song captures the feel of a night hanging out with Bobbby pretty well actually.

It was kind of a party... a good friend I hadn't seen in awhile... some drinks flowing... fun times.  You would have been welcome to hang out and jam!  smile

Thanks!  I haven't listened to the Boredoms in awhile.  I should dust off some of their albums.

they got all loose tribal psychedelic towards the end, very moving stuff

The vocals combined with the punk beat and funky guitar gave me a cool visual montage of a bar scene with many friends enjoying a fun night smile
Really uplifting moving track.  Nice job! smile

I remember digging some of their insane noise jams back in the day.  And, of course, their collaboration with Ween Z-Rock Hawaii was awesome.  I will make a point of jamming some later Boredoms.

Thanks!  It was a very fun night and if we managed to capture some of that, then I'm super stoked.

I can feel the good vibes from the session, sounds like you had a good time! Great track!

Thanks for listening!

Really fun song from what was surely a fun session. Like those sunny vocal harmonies. Love you description "elegant sloppiness"

Yeah, it got kind of sloppy but there was definitely a certain panache to the sloppiness.  I actually cleaned up some of the sloppy parts, but intentionally left some in, too, because it felt "true" to the session and the track.
