Good Enough For Government Work

By Cosmic Cairns on March 30, 2022 10:47 pm

A little jam on acoustic guitar with some wordless vocals and a little bit of musical saw.  Not overly ambitious this week, but it's good enough for government work!

Great guitar! This flows so nicely. Definitely good enough for government work! Ha!

Love the folksy feel with the strumming of your guitar.  I was getting visions of hopping in one of those old wooden bed trucks and chewing on some wheat as I get bounced around smile   Cool soothing vocal harmonies and the musical saw was a nice touch to the outro.

Thanks!  That main guitar line is something I've been noodling around with for a while and it seemed like time to do something with it.

Yeah, I can see that bouncing around in a truck bed vibe for sure.

Back here again cuz the melody was stuck in my head as I was doing the dishes.  One of my favs!

Love the high energie strumming on the guitar. The riffs are awesome. I have to find out which chords you played at the intro.  The vocals and the saw really match to the track. I have a scene of nature kids in my mind, which gather in a circle for a ceremony, in which they are peacefully levitating big stones and let them disappear.

beautiful saw!!! I wouldn't have known what that is if you didn't write it! Wonderful piece, a whole mood!

That's really cool to hear.  Thanks!

That's a cool mental picture for this.  As far as the chords go, the A string stays open the whole time and then I run around on the 7th, 9th, 11th, and 12th fret of the D string.  It's a little thing I stumbled on a few months ago while messing around and I finally got around to using it in something.

Thanks!  I try to pull the saw out every few tracks or so because it always adds a nice texture to a track.

Spring has indeed sprung!

For some reason the layers of guitars remind me of water cascades in the spring. Beautiful unison at 1:37 onward.

I'd be totally fine with my taxes supporting this sort of work. heart

aaaah~

Thanks!  Spring is in the air.

Vocal harmonies sound great along with the saw.  I'd say this is even good enough for union work smile

Thanks, but don't go saying that sort of thing too loud around me because next thing you know I'll be demanding union pay, and I can't afford that.

I used to date someone that used this phrase all the time, so this got me smiling before the track started.

This is actually so beautiful, this might be in my top 5 for CC for the year!  The saw adds that perfect "Don't Forget This Is CosmicCairns And Anything Can Happen" moment

That's good to hear that it's a top 5-er.  I think I was feeling like I was a little less inspired on this one, so it's nice to know it's resonating.  It's always interesting to see what other people respond to.  Or don't as the case may be.  I like how you note that "Anything Can Happen."  I do like to keep listeners on their toes.

It reminds me of a funny story, which may or may not have anything to do with that, but anyway... Several years ago somebody contacted me through my bandcamp page wanting to write a review of one of my albums.  I figured that meant they liked it so I was like, yeah!  That would be cool.  So fast forward to when the review comes out and the writer is all snarky and smug and basically has nothing positive to say at all.  It was disappointing, but I figured it's okay, not everyone has to like what I'm doing.  But the one thing I found most offensive about the review was when the writer dismissed my music as "generic."  It may be many things, good or bad, but I'm pretty sure it's not generic.  If that reviewer or anyone else tries to pull that critique ever again I'm responding with "But Orange Drink said 'Don't Forget This Is CosmicCairns and Anything Can Happen'.  So there!"

Mindblowing.  I think it is irrefutable that you work is very WEIRD.  Now, weird good or weird bad?  Arguable, a matter of taste, and depends on what CC Planet we are on as well!

If Extra-Planetary-Psychedlic-Sonic-Melting is "generic" then, well shucks.

Exacta-mundo.  I completely understand differences in taste and even I have to be in the right mood to visit certain of the CC planets, but heck I want to live in the world where EPPSM is considered generic,

Such a crazy story. I like the CC planet. Yeah I'd live a world where EPPSM is generic, just glad it exists.
Love your harmonizing in here, of course the saw is magic, the repetitive guitar works so well, kind of hypnotizes.
