Fever Trails

By Cosmic Cairns on December 15, 2016 1:42 am

I'm still pretty dang sick this week with a stupid cold.  I decided to make something sort of simple and impressionistic.  I took some wordless vocal lines and added a few guitar, bass, and synth lines.  Then at the end I ran some parts of the track backwards because it sounded pretty cool to me.  I also got some accidental noises like chair creaks and my phone ringing, which I decided to leave in the mix just for the heck of it.

I could assure you the creaks and phones sound really planned, like "this guy really puts attention to the details"...

Nice piece, indeed, with an almost psychodelic twist

Hope you get better, by the way!

This definitely has a feverish feel to it.  Maybe the beginning of a nyquil induced sleep? wink  Especially once the reversed section starts yikes  trippy!

yes, trance-like (in the word's original definition). Reversed end is perfection!

Thanks!  Sometimes things happen by accident that just seem perfect once they're in there.  And I think I am finally feeling a little better.  smile

The reversed section really did seem to mirror the way I was feeling pretty well!

Thanks!  I was originally going to end it before the reversal, but on a whim I decided to throw in the ending just to see what it would sound like and I ended up quite liking it.

It is so nice to listen to your wordless singing. Even foreward or backwards it is beautiful. Hope you are getting cured soon. Do not go to work when you are sick!!!!

Love the feel of this piece - there's a couple of those guitar lines which really remind me of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, and that really adds to the keening sadness for me!

A soundtrack to a feverish dream. Well done!

Now that is one epic and supremely trippy gif.  It might have given me a bit of a setback.  smile

Thanks!  I will have to check out this War of the Worlds you speak of.
