Barely There

By Cosmic Cairns on December 11, 2024 7:09 pm

I started out with this little acoustic driven idea that sort of morphed into something else without me totally realizing it was going to do that.  Can't believe we're already at week 50.  It seems like just a few weeks ago I was posting week 1.

In the air all around
There's something intangible
It's barely there hanging on
By the slightest of threads

If you look from the corner
Of your eyes you might catch
A glimpse of the elemental
Material in everything

great lyrics, love the phrasing. Great simple and beautiful backing track to the vocals. Love when song ideas morph and change into something unexpected I think that's what helps me out of rut, who knows what this could morph into!

A perfect 50! I played it 3 times in a row!

I love the vocalpart. I think, it might be unintentionally influenced by Brian Wilson and his divine melodies. The acoustics are beautiful too, especially the flute, the sweet bass and the guitars in stereo. Well done.

love when the warbled bass kicks in layered with the flute. Nicely done!

beautiful! i'm almost picking up some Zombies vibes, which is always welcome. Odessey & Oracle is an all-timer for me.

this is a really lovely & enchanting song, CC  heart

Lovely song with a lot of variety; seems like great sampling material for a WB with that CC-BY-NC license, unfortunately there are only two weeks left... 🤔

Super mellow and chill... Perfect for this time of year!

I do think it's good to be open to letting songs go in different directions than you were expecting.  You never know where you might end up.

Thanks!  It's that third time that they say is the charm.

I've certainly absorbed the Beach Boys into my DNA.  It wouldn't surprise me at all if they pop out from time to time.

Thanks!  I like that combo, too.

I do love me some Odessey & Oracle.  I didn't intentionally set out to channel the Zombies, but much like Q-Rosh mentioned with Brian Wilson, the influence probably finds its way in sometimes.

Thanks!  If you do happen to feel inspired to sample this in the next two weeks (or even beyond), by all means, please feel free to do so!  Would love to hear the results.

Thanks!  I needed some chill for sure.

It does seem like it was just a few weeks ago doing week 1, or 20 and on and on. Getting into a weekly groove.
Wow, this is neat, it had a cool beginning, but I love how it changes up and goes to new places. Very pretty, and chill. It starts by wanting us to look out of the corner of our eyes ... then we find something peaceful, elemental in the end, which is satisfying!

Thanks!  I originally thought this was going to be a really minimal acoustic thing, but I think I stumbled on something else I found looking out of the corner of my eye.

That intro felt like the beginning of a dream.  Entering a beautiful serene fantasy land smile  That then introduces the villagers with that suhweet bass/flute/kick sequence.  Such a cool contrast from the intro but totally meshes together so nicely.  Love the choice of synth sounds used to.  They really take advantage of the full stereo field.  Well done!
