Idk I kinda phoned it in this week, not crazy about this one. I need to learn more about mixing and mastering. This one sounds kinda...muddy to me.

There is always room for improvement, especially with tight deadlines, but I have to agree with demonzor, this is really good. There is still some space on the mix. Cool "rhodes" type sound, well done.
Digging the drums and overall flow. I'm with bub, there is a sense of sadness to this, but in a great way. Killer job man.
The music is nice and simple, but the vocals really bring it together. Not sure about muddiness, maybe a little in the mids, but nothing that takes away from the song at all. Nice!
I don’t hear any hints of muddiness. This song made me sad for some reason. Emotional is a minimalistic way. The synth’s chord progression, (I’m a sucker for that synth sound all day) along with the vocals hit me in the feels. :,( Way to go. Nice tune bud
Thanks, man. And yes...it's not a happy song. Bilateral arthoplasty isn't a happy event, especially when you're only 22 years old, eh?

Thank you! Appreciate the compliments.

Thanks, I've definitely been trying to get better drums in my tracks. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out this week. Thanks brotha

Yeah no time for me = simple music. I spent a while recording the vocals and tweaking their sound. Something still sounds off to me, but oh well. I'm gonna experiment with EQing those mids.
I’m really enjoying that synth lead over here. Yeah, I’m not really hearing the muddiness either. I’m listening on earbuds and everything seems to be jiving pretty well. Cool song though man, you’re vocals are great for the type of music you’ve been writing.
I'm really digging those FM synths, are you using Dexed or something similar? Paired with your harmonies, it's a very good combo!

Thanks! I appreciate the input. Glad it sounds good on your end; I didn't get a chance to give this a listen on a few different devices/environments.

Thank you! I am using the FL Studio plugin "DX10" which (excuse my ignorance) seems similar to Dexed? I have never heard of Dexed until now (so thanks for that too).

Oooh that looks really good! I used Dexed paired with ableton so I didn't know about DX10, they're both FM synths as it turns out I just love the tones you can get out of that, but I'm not very good at programming FM and I rely on patches. I don't know if DX10 allows you to import sysex files, but if it does you probably won't need an additional FM synth vst. If you do a search for sysex patches you're bound to find an unlimited amount of sounds, including classic Yamaha DX7 ones that are just pure fun. Another good FM VST but that is solely focused on the Sega Genesis is Plogue's Chipsynth MD, I love that one
Nice, I really like this mellow pluck lead. Really peaceful tune, very enjoyable listen.

I'll have to look into whether or not DX10 supports sysex files. I'm just starting to learn more about this stuff in general.

Thanks for the compliments. It's cool that you noticed the "pluck lead" as this was my first foray into any sort of sound design. I went from the default Serum preset to this and I'm pretty happy with it!
Great job on this Matt. Big fan of the vocals. Its amazing the progress youve made in just a few weeks. You can really hear it on this track. Doing this weekly really forces one to learn.

Thanks man appreciate the compliment! I'm glad there's been a noticeable improvement. And yes, what a way to learn. Just gotta stick with it
The overall mix is completely fine, the vocals may be a little low but nothing's really standing in its way.

Thanks, Devieus. I'm glad it sounds okay. I agree the vocals don't sit perfectly in the mix. I kept turning them up and down, felt like I couldn't find the sweet spot. Appreciate the comment.
I like the chords in this, something about them grabs me a certain way. Your singing is really good, nice sustain on those notes! I'm usually just trying to reach a note. A lot of practice I need. Keep it up
