this is the after party

i apologize for the current state of submissions. my move to germany is coming up and i'm really short on time. i'm pre-grieving the loss of lute by not playing it much and instead turning to easily transportable things like my old ukulele. so here is a simple melody with two kinds of harmonization. i'm weirdly tired of harmonic/melodic minor scales, so this one is major at first and then messed-up-jazzy kind of stuff. i should probably look into those greek scales...!

title is from a recent party that we attended. it was a big bonfire by the kids' school. around midnight, me and my daughter took a walk in the dark woods and found another big fire with one other guy from the party. we all stood there in silence for a minute until he said, "so yeah... this is the after party."

have a good week fellow WB's. i'm sorry i'm mostly absent. be back to full commenting force in a month or so...

Beautiful!

For major/jazzy it has a very melancholic vibe; perhaps inherent in the nature of the lute?

Check out Slonimsky's Scale Thesaurus for some very bizarre and interesting ideas.

Beautiful melancholic feeling from you, "partygoer" smile

Wish everything goes smooth with the move. Those could be tricky.

Best wishes, Christian!

Beautiful middleage atmosphere smile

Really nice piece to go with a great little story. Hope the move goes well smile
