lute loop

To nobody's surprise, this is a short lute phrase or loop that repeats. With it there is a Monark filter sweep and some other things. I'm trying to keep it simple but more of a journey... like some of my fellow weekly beat composers here... It's a step.

Nice layering! Also, grood tension release before the drums come in (and then immediately go out).

I like how the Monark (not the Venture Bros villain) fades in and out, especially right before the beat comes in.  Nice job! smile

Sweet and evolving, it sounds like much more than an simple loop to me. Nice synth patch.

I'm really enjoying those compositions where you mix your string instrument with subtle electronic ambiences. It's not an easy task, but you get there smoothly smile

This one would fit perfectly into some modern videogame ambience... Have you seen a brief documentary about the making of "The Last Of Us" soundtrack by Gustavo Santaolalla, for the Sony PS3? I guess you will love it. He uses a lot of string instruments also:

Let me post it for you...

Yes, agreed! Adds a dramatic mid-section. This has a really cool sound to it and that synth release at the end is priceless

Well done, it sound great, and you set up a very nice composition around that loop.

Thanks! I'm struggling with drums and lute because I have a hard time playing the lute in the right groove, or quantizing the drums according to the lute.

Wow thank you for posting that. Yeah, he certainly rocks. It's so amazing how much great music is out there. And even integrating new and old. Very inspiring.

This is really nice.. You do good work with string sounds. Envious.

Nice, slow build journey of a tune. Good work!

I love the sound of lutes. And this builds from its loops really nicely.

This is gorgeous dude! Really enjoy 'traditional' instruments in new contexts.
I'm looking at buying a Shamisen soon for something completely different and does not hurt my back.
