More m8 practice: this week I wanted to continue on with breakbeat slices, but attempt something in an odd meter. I went with a classic 5/4, and while nothing special I kinda dig the simple jaunty vibe I came up with. It's pretty cramped, muddying the mix. If I had more time I'd edit it further, space it out, and be more liberal with side chaining. I still like it, but in it's state it's not really great for presentation... and considering how repetitive it is, I probably should have shaved a half-minute off, but I didn't really mind it looping a bit to show off the LFO modulation.

I also wanted to try rendering the stems out individually, for more fine-grained editing in reaper. It works pretty good! But bypassing my preamps, I noticed the tracks sounded a little wimpy, so I doubled up a few and added some compression and some "Haas Effect" stereo widening.

I'm running out of time -- next time I'll try reprocessing through the preamps.

Love this, very bouncy, great fun meter, melody works well against the bouncy bass, breakbeats and extra percussion. Great track!

Thanks for the thoughtful comments! Glad it hit your ears... When putting time into something so specific, it's extra nice to receive acknowledgement from someone else who "gets it", hah!

Love this off-kilter timing that still keeps a catchy cyclical nature. And the overall vibe feels so uplifting, nicely crafted heart

this one made me happy. nice little melody and bass parts and I love how pulsating and moving it feels.
