Missed the last few weeks. I'm going through a challenging period and I've been at a loss for time and energy. A couple strokes of bad luck: my mom had a difficult medical diagnosis, then I lost my job, then my mom had a medical emergency earlier this week. She's okay now.

She was at my house when it happened: I found her in the kitchen, very confused -- she didn't know why we had flowers on the table. She had brought the flowers for my wife that morning, a gift for her birthday. She couldn't remember anything from the past year, and she also wasn't retaining any new information. I rushed her to the urgent care hospital nearby, and they transferred us to a larger hospital an hour away for CT and MRI scans. She's still being monitored, and she's getting great care. It took about 24 hours for the amnesia to dissipate, and she's still with a 6 hour gap.

Yay, Canadian healthcare! People gripe a lot, but it's been amazing for us in this case.

I'm not quite sure what to do about work. I work in software, seven years as an software engineering manager for tech "scale-ups" but I'm really not enjoying it like I used to, and the parts I love seems to be on the way out. With advances in AI, I'm not feeling optimistic about job security. I'll likely figure something out fairly soon, but I've started thinking about career pivots.

In positive news, I'm on my way to get a puppy. We're all very excited. A Silken Windhound. It's my first dog. Yes, I'm up for the challenge of raising a puppy, and we have lots of support smile

For WB, I'm not sure how consistent I can be with my contributions at this point. I'd like to keep up with a creative hobby -- we'll see how it goes. My beats might be a little more noise-oriented for the next while.

This one is a little harsh, sorry about that. Recorded live, some quick edits, and posted in about an hour. Take care everyone, hope you're well!
