Week 8
Goal at start 2/18:
Make multiple loop experiments. Don’t just run with the first thing you put down. Try to get at least 3 different ideas going and pick one.

End notes 2/20:
I ended up not making multiple entirely different song concepts like I intended due to time limitations. Instead I focused more on reworking little 4 and 8 bar segments more than I usually would. Though the end result isn’t anything extraordinary, I could definitely sense the change in my thought process during composing. Constantly challenging the notes I’ve already put down and the sounds I’ve picked helps me perceive more clearly what I’m working with. I think I used to not change things mid process as much out of a sense that there wasn’t enough time. Now I understand it takes just as long if not longer to drag a worse idea to the finish line, plus there’s the exhaustion and despair of having to listen to it on repeat. Taking the time up front to crack it sooner saves time and momentum in the end.

Action plan for next week:
Repeat the goal from this week, only put a little more effort into sound selection for the main melody.

this doesn't feel panicked at all! maybe the melody goes a little chaotic towards the middle, but I dig the sound design and the quiet/loud dynamic of the lead. cool track!

“ Now I understand it takes just as long if not longer to drag a worse idea to the finish line, plus there’s the exhaustion and despair of having to listen to it on repeat.” I feel such a connection to that statement. I like the variety of your sounds and instruments in your song.
