The Meaning of Life

By Chrisfoo on February 16, 2020 7:57 pm

Pretty big topic to tackle in a week and condense into a 5 min piece of music, but I think I got the gist of it.

As of yesterday this was just a little diddy I made to mess around with some free plugins I downloaded earlier this week.  I had writers block on my other idea so I checked this one out again and ran with it. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

This is radio worthy man. The production quality is fantastic! Lemme get that guitar tone.

Thanks dude!  The guitar tone can be yours if you're a Logic user; its the preset called "Surfin' in Stereo." If I recall correctly I dont think I tweaked it much, just sent it to a bus with a thick reverb.

Wow dude, such a well written song, and perfectly performed. The lyrics are fantastic, the vocals couldn't be any better, the piano doesn't stop driving the song forward. Production wise, this is huge .. beautiful reverb (TAL?). I love how the vocals and piano are panned opposites. I'm super impressed (ESPECIALLY since this was a mere diddy yesterday) .. well done

Every week you release a song i think "okay, Foo has reached his ceiling for WB, this cant be topped"...then a week goes by and you release another amazing work of music.  ill have to listen to this a few more times and comment, i cant comprehend knowing this was a diddly yesterday and today its this.  from the diddly in the beginning, A+ vocals, to the end piano, this song is so well put together.  ill comment tomorrow after a few more listens.  fuckin a bud

Thanks dude!  Yeah this was one of those songs that just kind of poured out, I wish I knew how to get that to happen regularly.  Yeah, I used TAL verb 2 on electric guitar, Tal 3 on the synths and 4 on vocals and keys.  Those plugins are beautiful, cant believe they give them away for free!

Haha thanks man, glad you liked it!  Yeah, I didn't think I was even going to have a full song to submit today but it just came together.

I agree with everyone else 100%.  They took all the words out of my mouth.  Beautiful song and production.  This has such a big sound overall, I love it.  Kind of reminds me of My Morning Jacket

This is a powerful song, hits me right in the heart. The composition, the lyrics, the delivery, everything! Major props dude!

Wow, big sound! Maybe you should have saved this for the 42nd week, since it's the answer to life, the universe and everything!

Fucking Foo bringing another banger to the table. I agree with a lot said above. I have to comment on your use on reverb. You use it in all the right places. Such a big room sound. I can hear this sound echoing at Lincoln Hall making me think where I went wrong in life.

Pretty amazing for week's work, nicely done. Great voice too.

very impressive

Great quality, good job.

Thanks dude!  I'll take an MMJ comparison any day.

Thanks man, I appreciate that.  Yeah, this year for me is all about trying to speed up my production.  Its unnatural since I like to dwell on things and put off decisions, but the weekly deadline is really helping.

Love it!  Just Love it.  Beautiful on all fronts. Great guitar, vocals, bass, production.  Damn!
