Sinkhole: Duet for Piano and Vocoder

By Chrisfoo on January 26, 2020 9:20 pm

I bought some fun new toys this week and wanted to try them out.  The brand new Waves Ovox, which is how the vocals were produced, and Valhalla Shimmer (reverb).  Ovox is definitely cool, not the most practical thing for my typical style of writing, but its fun to play around with.  Valhalla Shimmer is the fucking coolest reverb plugin I've ever used.  I bused everything on this project to it and put on a huge reverb sound with slight modulation and couldn't be happier with how it turned out (and how clean it is).  Anyways, I wanted to do a little more with this piece, but wasn't really feeling any of the directions I was trying to take.  Decided to keep it short and sweet, hope you like it.

Absolutely love creeks.  M’lady and I got to see them at Allstate sometime in the Fall and it was truly special to see live.  Love how your sound is along the same vibe

I love how you setup the reverb, with that crisp piano in front, I feel like I'm standing at the edge of a frozen cliff, watching mist and clouds go by in a timelapse, it's very pretty!

Thanks dude, that’s all the Valhalla Shimmer plugin.  It’s unreal.

Haunted by the vocoder but the piano makes it so beautiful.  Nice work here

Wow, this is majestic -- big sound and the vocoder use is awesome.

damn dude, I'm floored. the piano is incredible, well composed and played. and I'm a sucker for anything with a vocoder so hell yeah, I'd say Waves Ovox was worth.

Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it.  Yeah Ovox is pretty cool.  It goes far beyond just vocoder too, super fun to mess around with.

Fantastic Foo. Im mesmerized. This track could be 8 minutes longer and I'd listen to the whole god damn thing.

Fascinating.

Sorry I missed this last week because piano and vocoder are two of my favorite things and rarely used together to this result.  Great moody track with lots of atmosphere.  Really enjoying your tracks.

Digging the chords going into the vocoder!
