Linearity

This is another song off my last EP that I am rethinking and tweaking to put on my album that will be coming out in the near future.  Unfortunately this one didnt work out as well as the last song ("Observe") that I did this to a couple weeks back, but its getting there.  Fun fact:  About 90% of my time this week was spent trying to redesign the bass sound until I gave up today and changed it to the original sound, but EQ'ed differently.

Big thanks to @saucey-dough for laying down the drums on this.  They really bring a shit-ton of energy, especially in the outro.  Really makes a big difference compared to the original track.

This is still very much in work right now, so sorry for the poor quality.  Still needs to be mixed and mastered, but here's where it's at so far.

Sick track! Definitely EP worthy. Really liking the synths on this one, and the rhythm of the bass, and the piano dissonance, and that nasty vocal effect. The end of this song KILLS. Nice job on the drums, sauce!

It sounds good in its "raw" form.  The song itself is definitely there.  I like the synth sounds you're using on this. It's mellow but has a sweet tone.  Cool vocal effect towards the end.  Definitely keep that in the final mix, whatever it ends up being.

I love the electric pianos/rhodes, very cool. Nice song. Lots of things going on.

The saturation on those keys is perfect. Really nice track dude smile

+1 on the saturation. What’s in the background starting at 2:35? Really sweet vibe with this track.

I'm with Mission Crossing - there is some cool dissonance happening from 2:35 on - what was that? That was a pretty cool touch. Great Rhode lines, the bass sound is nice and good job on the synth lines. Also good singing there, and good usage of reverb on that track!

Dammmmmnnnn the vocals at the end are some pro shit man. Killer track, would not mind hearing more like this.

chill rhodes! Like the synth part at the end too

Sooo nice, I love the vocal line. Instrumentation sounds great, looking forward to the final mix!

This is such a mood hahahah.

Nice tune :> enjoyable listen. All the elements sound in their place. Unfortunately I can't hear the bass too well on mobile but the mix sounds great. Lyrics for this one by chance? Also small suggestion but have you played with like 50% mix or something on the gate vs the full volume cuts

On second listen, I think I'd like to hear that last vocal part without the tremolo effect on the high notes? Take that with a grain of salt. I like the song

Very nice, clean, vocal performance. Compared to the old one there's a lot more going on; I'm not sure if the vocals are suffering from it though. It could do with a slight boost.

Great song! Love how it builds. Yeah mix sounds pretty good, love the vocal, keys and the vocal effects in end as well.

Another catchy submission from ya.  The rhodes has a nice vibe with the bass line that keeps ya nodding along.  The breakdown after the vocal stutter sounds great too.  Nice work!

That vocal modulation! Perfect. The bass sounds nicely in the track. Even without being mixed and mastered, it has nice clarity. The instruments have great presence in here, which gives the track a clean, smooth feel.

Thanks guys.  That sound at 2:35 is actually a sound effect sample of thunder that was stretched and mangled beyond recognition on an old version of Adobe Audition when the stretch/shrink algorithm was so bad that it was good for making weird shit like that.  That sound clip has been in at least one other of my WB projects and I've got a bunch more like it that I hide in tracks periodically.

Haha dude, its actually a lot less complicated then you'd think.  I just automated the depth and speed on a tremolo plugin to increase throughout the held notes.

Thanks man, and thanks for the feedback!  I'll have to throw some saturation on there to get the bass to pop out.  Did you want to see all the lyrics for this?  And for the gated part, thats not a bad idea!  I have it automated from o% to 100% right now but I was worried it sounds a bit much.  I will try to play with the level it peaks at though, thats a good call!

Thanks for that feedback, I appreciate it!  Yeah, I was wondering if that was a bit much so I will play around with it a bit.  @ngineer suggested having it peak at like 50% depth so I will try and and see if its less distracting.

Thanks man, thats a good call.  I will definitely bring up the vocals a bit in the final mix.

Ahh lovely verby tune. Great work man. The bridge really got me, and that screechy, brassy sound that came in there is killer! Is that brass? or a synth? Really dig it.

Great track! The electric pianos any synths sound awesome and all is blended together very well and cohesive. As always great vocals and guitars. Like the big, full ending and that vocal effect. Sweeet!

Thanks man, I appreciate it.  Yeah, that little lead part at the end is a synth.  That was made on my Argon8, but using actual brass there might be a pretty cool contrast.  That'll be something to consider when I'm finishing this up.
