Follow My Shadow

Damn, down the the wire.  Didnt get a chance to fill it out or mix but at least I got the whole song tracked.  Sorry for the weak, cringeworthy ohhhs in the chorus.  Was going to layer and harmonize them but didnt have time.

Mannn, I've forgotten what its like away from the proverbial wire.
Sounds great considering you had to rush it out! Guitars sound great, as usual. Didn't feel like the 'ohhs' stuck out as being unpolished. Some charm there in their rawness I think.

Classic Foo sound on this. Well done my man! Nothing cringeworthy about this.

Love me some tremolo! You've gotta be one of the most consistent songwriters on weekly beats, man. It's so solid. And I'm a huge fan of the hornsy/synthy section at 2:30.

Haha, I dont like cutting it this close.  Had to make a lot of last min compromises.  Glad it didn't sound too bad though, thanks!

Thanks man!  Yeah I'm sure its not too bad, just didnt get it to quite where I envisioned it yet.  Glad you liked it though.

Haha, I dont know why but tremolo has been like my favorite effect lately.  I appreciate the kind words man, it means a lot.

That's a great song. guitars and keys works great together. I actually like the oooohhh ouh as it is. smile

Damn, wouldn't change a thing. Vocals sound sincere and I love some up front oooos and ahhs.  Nice bass and acoustic guitar playing and sound.  I like that lower baritone sounding guitar lead as well. That vintage sound string synth in the bridge is really lush and bright.  It really pushes out the sections its featured in. Saved and Faved!

Really feel good track. The intro guitar really pulls you in

The whole song is very nice but I especially like the guitar leads.  Both at the beginning and around the 3 minute mark.  The ohs are fine.  Maybe it would sound even better with layered harmonies, but they work as is.  They don't sound weak or off.

Love the guitars and vocals on this. This song has a real classic, authentic sound to it man! Great job! I like the ooooh's too.

It's got you all over it. I bet if you worked on it afterwards it wouldn't be nearly as much of an improvement as you might think now.

totally agree.  week after week you're putting out really great and complete tracks...full songwriting ability.  wish i had the patience to be able to write more full songs like this...its got everything and sounds amazing.  had me groovin when the solo kicks in, great work dude!

Great job on this song. I love the guitar intro, tasty with a nice tone and good vocals. The oohs work, no need to be ashamed there. Nice break around 2:30, followed by a tasty solo with a warm smooth tone. Very very nice.

Solid song structure Foo. Another great composition. The string instrumental sets a perfect stage for that guitar solo to come back in to the main chords. Add it to the list of great songs. Hope this one makes the next EP.

Thanks man!  The synth in this is actually Logics stock mellotron.  Such a cool sounding software instrument that I always forget about.

Thanks man, I appreciate it!  Yeah I thought harmonies would sound better too but I tried it and wasnt feeling it.  I ended up just rerecording with some takes I was happier with.

Thanks man!  Yeah I think that mellotron totally give it the classic rock vibe.

Haha, funny you should mention that.  I spend a shit load more time on it last week trying to retrack stuff and add some unnecessary production techniques.  I ended up undoing most of what I did and just cleaned it up a bit.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.  You've had plenty of bangers this year yourself though.  Always look forward to hearing your tracks.

Thanks dude, yeah that bridge was a total accident that worked out well.  This one is for sure going to be on the album.  I'm actually making myself stop being a piece of shit and finish it over the next couple weeks too.  I'll hit you up for some drum if you're down once I get refreshed on where I left off with everything.

Good to know.  I use Logic as well and have seen the mellotron but never ventured in to use it.  I'm always in the classic synths section.

Excellent instrumentation of the guitar and vocals.  Love that middle section where the organy/brass stuff take over.  Also I like the ooooohs! Great songwriting skillz especially bringing it down to da wireuh!
