Time is Ticking

I am happy to be back home in front of some studio monitors! This tune ended up a bit cheesy but I'm pleased with it, with the exception of the snare. I need to return to this sometime in the future and give it a better snare sound, or some variation.

I started the week trying to doodle out something on the MPC. That ended up falling flat so I fired up Maschine and got something more exciting going. The drum tracks got dropped into Logic. I sprinkled an Analog Lab arp on top, then got the bass line going in a gforce SEM VST. The lead is gforce OB-EZ. I fat fingered that melody out, then tidied up in piano roll. The little pad swell is a sample. The vocal thing late is an apple loop from Logic. The rhodesy chime thing came from a sample. 15 DAW tracks total.

The snare could be better (maybe more body), but the vibe is great! I particularly like the cute plucky synths and the old school vox!

Fun lead and melody! I actually dig the soft / kind of hollow snare sound, but either way, this is a cool beat. 😎

Solid track! Something I like about the snare as it is is that it has a clear presence in the mix without crowding other things out. The interplay between the hit and then the sizzle/cymbal underneath afterwards is also fun. Will be curious to see where you go with it!

That was a really cool accident after I made a last attempt to EQ the snare. It kind of blends in with the sizzle of the hat reverb. I'm still iffy on the snare sound itself but it's a partial win.

Oooh love the soft arps and comforting pads.  Digging the drums too.  Combined with the bass it's giving me futuristic city feels as everyone makes their way thru the crowded streets. Excellent work!

very into this. that breakdown @ 2 mins is so heavenly, and the vocal at the end was a great addition.

Well done, I hear you on the snare it very close. The style fits it just sits a bit too focused. Perhaps if you didn't say anything about the snare I would draw my ear to it, sounds like the right texture but a bit more body and a little less shimmer lol, I don't know what I am talking about as I fight these same demons weekly. I don't need anymore VSTs but you certainly gave me some new ones that I haven't worked with.

Tbh, I dont know much about techno music, but I love the layers that you put in this
