Return to Bliss

Here's a 90s styled atmospheric drum and bass track. This spawned from sticking a few classic breaks on the timeline at 170bpm and then doodling with some pads in Analog Lab. I stayed lazy on the drums and left this rooted around the break switching. I think it works as is. There's a core e-piano melody here from a Blu Mar Ten sample pack "Free Pack 2013". That part felt like cheating but it sits nicely in this. The vocal one shot is from the Zero G Vocal XTC pack.

This week I learned:
-What a limiter is and how I was not using it. smile
-How Logic's method for reversing a sample is not at all intuitive
-How to do some basic filter automation
-That I like Raum better than Supermassive. Supermassive has the most confusing names for things.
-The importance of sample naming conventions

Absolutely sick break beats. Awesome stuff.

This is absolutely my fave flavour of dnb. Really moody and beautiful but still got the groove, and that sub is deliciously deep.

Raum and Supermassive are very different really and I agree, Raum tends to be a little easier to work with and better tuned. It sounds great here.

Also! There's gonna be a breakbeat month this summer on the Red Means Recording discord challenge, you should come!

Yess excellent, this is the good stuff. Love the 808.

Very solid, great job!

love this, great breakbeat action and lots of spacey sounds to float over, really classy 90s sound

Very nice! I would take a bit more variation / manipulation of the breaks here and there, but you nailed the vibe perfectly! heart

Super chill track with a great groove.

Crisp and airy. Agree I think the arrangement could use some variation esp on the drums

Oh yeah! Love it when the sub hits!

Awesome track. Agree with everything else said here !

Oooh when the sub kicks in.... yais heart.  I'm always a go for 90s dnb feels.  Those high strings along with the beat def take me back ala Spring Heel Jack.  Well done!

the contrast btw breakbeats w/all the atmosphere is interesting!

Ok let's hope this works because this is where I am right now:

Please work! Excellent track heart
