Optimism Crashes Out

This is a minimal pensive thing I started on MPC then ported to Logic for sequencing. This was one of those fun weeks where the foundation came together fairly quickly and then one element would not play along. The bass line was the offender once again.  I abandoned the original bass from the MPC, and after much trial an error this Bass Station VST thing seemed to substitute better than the rest. It's still a bit weak, but it'll do.

I like the lead here. It's pretty catchy and it kept trying to haunt me during my non-music time this week.

One unusual thing I did this week (that I need to do more of) was to TRY to tune the drum elements. The MPC has various themed drum kits that I pull from. I end up aggregating different elements via different kits. Parts aren't always keyed up, even within kits. Hopefully the end result is OK as it did wild things to different elements, including creating a far different feel for the kick.

Loving those airy pads and bells and how they hover over the driving bass and drum groove.  Also yay Bass Station! BS2 owner here smile

Sounds great, very moody, very melodic. The kick is subtle and just keeping time for the other percussive elements, it works really well. Absolutely in love with that bass.

Love the kick sequencing. Refreshing to see something thats not 4 on the floor for those kind of minimal tracks!

I love how the pads and the delayed bass work together here!

so mysterious and groovy. sounds great to me!

The percussion is very textured and satsifying to listen to. Sounds wintery to me which is right in my wheelhouse.

The percussion works great on this, yeah nice vibe overall too!
