The malignancy and the solution

Dice / coin / rune = C# major + Othila

I took some sage advice from last week and got the darker more industrial results I wanted out of the major key, which was pretty cool/fun.

Busy week so this one was entirely crammed into a couple of hours right before the deadline, but I'm still pretty happy with it, despite the arrangement being crude and feeling like it's missing some kind of lead or more interesting breaks.

I usually use the silly made up rune meanings for inspiration on topic or title, but that rune in particular is one I like (have a tattoo) but also very specifically has been co-opted by white supremacists, so the title is a nod in that direction (the solution is to bash the fash, to be glib).

Aww yiss! Reminds me of Deftones. The bell-like pad takes it in different places but that's good, too, you don't want to sound 1:1 like somebody else.

Too bad about white supremacists taking over innocent symbols. It's annoying and personally, I'm not giving in. Yeah, I've dealt with a bit of that myself.

In one case, I wore red shoelaces with my Dr. Martens boots and somebody asked me in the name of what am I "willing to shed blood"? Apparently, some skinhead groups use that boot/shoelace color combination to signify the wearer is ready to get aggressive. This is meaningless to me, and I still have those boots and shoelaces.

In another case, I wrote a command-line tool that uses 88 as a default value for a parameter (because it's 80 + 10%), I got hatemail because apparently, 88 is a number that's code for HH, which in turn is code for Heil H. I never knew that beforehand and I still refuse to treat the number specially.

So what's the secret symbol for bash the fash?

Love this. Favd.
