Tata-Ta

By Bunjigram on October 27, 2024 11:19 pm

Life got busy, and I've been away for a couple of weeks. I was out of town the last two weekends, and since I'm the king of procrastinators and don't usually start my beat until Sunday afternoon, I missed out. I spent last weekend with Mosaic and his sis up in Harper's Ferry on our annual camping and kayaking adventure. I was with my girlfriend and her kids the weekend before at Great Falls on the Potomac. Fall is my favorite season, and I gotta get outside and soak it up. Okay, enough with my excuses. I did use the time away to recharge my creative juices. In fact, this week's beat is my first ever with NO piano. I sat down at my keys at 4:00 pm and started rummaging through my VSTs for something interesting. I landed on an ethereal patch called "Increasing Flow" from Augmented Strings, and it just went from there. The name for the beat came from the Arp arpeggio patch I used. Anyway, it's an experimental noodle for me as I continue to learn my way around Abelton and try to do some different things. I look forward to catching up with what's been uploaded while I was away.  I hope everyone is enjoying this fall, and as always, thanks for stopping by.  - RCN

beautiful track. reminds me of william orbit.

glad to hear ya back! Love the foggy n dreamy feel of that Augmented Strings patch.  Nice use of the timpani, it gave me some Vangelis feels giving it that orchestral sound he would use.  Well done!

Awesome! Nice work branching out and trying something different. That Increasing Flow patch is great - warm and reflective as it gradually builds into the joyful Tata-ta. Just before 2:17 it almost sounds a bit uncertain and eerie but returns safely "home" before boldly embarking onto the next chapter. Agree with ToneMatrix about the Vangelis feels.

Thanks TM. I hadn't thought about Vangelis, but now that you mention it! smile The timpani was a little tricky on the arpeggio. I think some instances were better than others. I ran out of time for refinement. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks. Yeah, I wasn't quite sure where this would end up, and then I heard that arpeggio patch and said, "Heck yeah... why not?" Thanks to your shared collections, I can branch out a little and see what comes. Having fun. smile

Glad you're back! I was wondering if you got to the Italian restaurant a little too late for your supply of noodles big_smile Happy to hear it was an energizing vacation.

Love the sonic exploration you're doing! That ambient string sound is great - the sound has a tension to it, but with enough reverb to soften the entire feel. Great combination. The stuttering patch at the end was a TOTAL surprise coming from you! Great combination of electronic feel and orchestral (orchestralectro!) Looking forward to more sonic exploration.

oh that is great, Bunjigram! really cool to hear your playing with these new sounds. you've got such a great melodic sense.

Yep, my "noodle" took a different twist this time into a whole new restaurant (to stick with the analogy) smile. Throwing some cool-sounding patches together just seemed a little easier last week than trying to compose a piano piece under pressure, which is my usual self-imposed challenge. Hoping to explore more in the coming weeks, although we're coming into the busy holidays soon.  Thanks for your comments.

Well, gosh golly, jwh!  Thanks for the compliment. I'm getting lots of ideas listening to folks like you, who continually impress me with your diverse musical styles and artistry. Looking forward to catching up with what I've missed over the last couple weeks.
