Second Chance

By Bunjigram on August 25, 2024 11:55 pm

Here's another "last minute" upload. This is a song I composed over 20 years ago, but never really recorded it.  Guess I just committed it to muscle memory in my hands.  Anyway, I decided to dig it out of my cob webs and put some new life into it. It's kinda a pop type song, but not really. It's in the key of Fmaj, but has an intro in Fmin.  Then I added a bridge in Gmin with some funky chords thrown in.  I'll probably mess with this some more, but this is what I got for now.  I guess the name is fitting, since I'm giving it a "second chance" at life.  Thanks for listening.  - RCN

P.S. - I really need to start working on these projects before 2:00 pm on Sunday.  Hope to get better at that.

Very joyful track! I like the dive into the jazzy chords and how it re-emerges into the original uplifting theme. Your chord rolling style really shines through in the second half. Nice ritardando outro too

Oh, this is joyful.

I LOVE the chord progression in this one...very tasty introduction, and great voicings throughout. I particularly like the walk down bass you're doing for a lot of of it, and then how it changes to a chromatic walk down at 1:50 or so. Great change in feel. This has a HUGE pop sound to it. But I could also see it as a big arena rock piano piece, too. smile Glad you got it recorded!

really strong melodic movements and cool uplifting chord changes. sometimes songs wait 20 years, glad this one is demanding a...

Thanks, it was time for something a little more uplifting since several of my recent uploads have been soft and slow. smile

Thanks for the feedback. I've been hitting a creative slump recently, so reached back to this old melody I came up with a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. lol I had fun recording this one and really cut my teeth on Ableton with this project, refining and tweaking and mastering for the version I uploaded to Sound Cloud. Thanks for listening.

Yeah, I think I first played this on an old upright piano when I was a teenager. It was time to bring it back to life and get it recorded. Thanks for listening.

That's one very jazz intro, and then one very sitcom rest of the song. It's cute.

Haha, I never thought of the main song as a sitcom track, but now that you mention it.... It reminds me of the theme to Cheers a little bit.  Great observation. smile
