On Second Thought

By Bunjigram on December 8, 2024 11:29 pm

Well, I started early today (not usual for me), but I had a new VST I was excited to play with -- a Steinway D Studio Grand from Addictive Keys (Black Friday Sale). Anyway, I spent all afternoon noodling around with the various presets and trying to adjust to my liking. I recorded a piano solo and then recorded an orchestral string intro from the Philharmonic. I realized my intro and my piano solo didn't jive, but I liked my intro better. After fiddling around and getting frustrated, I just said "Ef it" and deleted my piano solo -- before looking at the clock.  Damn, 90 minutes til the fat lady sings. Oh well, it looks like it's back to my old way: I needed a one-take improv. Inspired by my string intro, I played something I could live with. If I had more time, I would layer in strings and other accompaniment with the piano, but for now, it will just have to be filed away with all the other unfinished ideas. I also need to fiddle around with the editing features of Addictive Keys. I thought the piano was a tad bit too punchy, but it worked well enough.  Well, Mosaic just showed up for dinner.  Gotta go sear some steaks. As always, thanks for stopping by. - RCN

beautiful soundtrack to my number-crunching this morning.

Lovely sweeping strings for the intro.  Totally understand that feeling of the sections not jiving or feeling cohesive.  The soothing piano section feels like a true homage to the story the strings first told.  Well done!  Hope the steaks were tasty!

my only gripe with this track is that its too short.
11/10 will listen to it again.

Thanks TM, a little late in responding, but always appreciate your comments.  Hope you're doing well.
