Lazy Summer Days

By Bunjigram on June 30, 2024 11:48 pm

Okay, so I procrastinated this week.  I mean like as in not even sitting down at my keyboard until 5:00 pm this evening with no idea what I wanted to play. Fiddled around for a few minutes until I hit on this little right hand line in F Maj and just went with it. Used the Arturia American Grand patch with some tweaks to tone and FX, a quick mastering in Audacity (since I haven't learned to master in Ableton yet) and bang, cranked something out.  No time to name it other than ... F Maj Doodle.  Thanks for listening. - RCN

Update: Named this tune "Lazy Summer Days" when I uploaded it to Soundcloud, so I've updated it here as well.

I loved hearing how that little right hand motif developed! Quiet and spacious at the beginning, and then really started to flow at the one minute mark. Also liked how it came back around to that beginning idea. Lovely…and all the more impressive because you did it as a speed run!

Love how your melodies call and answer each other as you progress through the track.  The main theme has a good feel to it and enjoyed that lower octave ending.  Excellent last min improv, I wouldn't have guessed it smile

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it would come together, but sometimes when I'm under pressure, I tend to work more efficiently to get it done. Hoping to improve on this process.

Thank you. I never really looked at it that way -- the "call and answer" method, but I can see that now.  I had a middle-aged cocktail lounge piano player as my instructor in the mid 1970's, and he taught me this left-hand rolling octave chord rhythm, which later evolved into the style I use a lot now. Hoping to spend more time on these improv sessions to make them better.  I appreciate the feeback.

Very pleasant listen. I should start to play piano one day, one day...

lovely playing, glad i clicked over  smile

I really like the build up to the ending, seems like the motif was really under hands by then, and you were having fun with it.  Very nice track.

Thanks, the piano has been a great outlet for me most of my life.  It's never too late to start something new.

Thanks, not sure where I was going with this, but I guess it came together in the end.  Appreciate the feedback.

No matter how lazy the production, it's very easy to be lazy with this playing.
