Song for Joy #1

By brian botkiller on January 7, 2018 7:17 pm

For this  year's Weekly Beats, my third year participating, I have chosen a theme.

My wife means more to me than anything in this world. I am consistently in awe of her on a daily basis. I am enthralled with her, and so grateful every day of the life that we get to have with each other. As a result, I've chosen to write songs for her this year.

I've never done something like this -- music for me is usually something I write rather selfishly, although I do write it with the intention of others enjoying it. I have not, however, ever stepped into the realm of writing music for someone. My wife gives me the want to do that.

I can't say where some of these will go -- I am still leaning towards the minimal techno vibe that I am usually known for, but I can say that I plan on experimenting a lot in this year, working to find new avenues and inspirations.

I am deeply grateful to my wife for her belief in what I do, and I hope that what I make this year can show her that.

This is a VERY long form jam, which I'm also known for. Lots of Ableton junk happening here.

Thanks!

Wonderful sentiment. Keen to hear what you come up with throughout the year. Really digging this jam.

Excellent jam, nice and hypnotic! Also wonderful plans for a theme! smile

A long form, and I can sense the care placed into each set of 16 bars. Make her proud dude!

FUN KEY

Long but absorbing.  Dig the whole sound. Your wife is a lucky woman!

what a beautiful challenge idea!  great start - makes me wanna dance - feels "joy"ful smile

love the toms on this one! I also like that it's a longer one, that you give it the room it deserves to evolve. A very very nice track!

This reminds me of super early underworld (somewhere in between dubno and s.t.i.t.i.) in the best possible way ^__^
