Still healing my thumb injury and added another scrape to the other hand, the universe is definitely trying to tell me something which probably is try to pay more attention dumbass.

I had a little bit of time so I decided to add some new plugins to my setup and try them out, I bought Digitalis by Aberrant DSP which looks fantastic and can do a little bit of everything. It's on the whole mix here, which is a wild move that I'd probably never try again, but sometimes putting some heavier processing on the mix buss and writing and mixing the whole track into that can yield surprising results.

I also got all the free plugins from plugin alliance, some very well regarded heavy hitters just free I couldn't pass it up. I definitely have to spend a lot more time with them but I can tell they're probably not my cup of tea. The Skeuomorphic interfaces look really cool and they sound good, I used a couple of instances of the BX Oberhausen synth and the Shadow Hills Compressor on the Master, but the experience of working with them just isn't super pleasant to me.

I like the progression from beginning to end. I'll also have to check out Digitalis!

The track is very pleasant and has such a floating facility. You should try this often again, the effect plug- ins do work very well in the mix. I really love the sounds you make.

Never heard of Digitails, but I remember ages ago I accidentally (or maybe not) put heavy distortion on the master track and was "mind-blown" how the drums disappeared altogether and the whole thing transformed into a single, almost monophonic big stupid fuzz that did something neat. What's neat about this is that I'm not hearing a singular effect applied to the master. (I did peep the plugin and it seems interesting and relevant to my interests!)

I want to talk more about the plugins, but the track's calling me: the shimmering sustained sound (1:03-1:06 descending line) -- what is this? Excellent, excellent sound. I also could not anticipate the build-up at the end (that bass!), the entire movements / build / tutti emergence over that pulse is *chef's kiss*. heart

I haven't been able to get that deep into Digitalis, it has a quirky interface and loads of things and it's easy to completely destroy the signal, although as you say sometimes it just works wonders.
That sound is a preset from Native Instruments Straylight called Tube Organ, it does indeed sound a lot like an organ but there's a granular sample layer in there so it sounds really shimmery in the high registers.
