Setup Doodle

By banksii on January 7, 2024 11:45 pm

This was just a quick improvisation using the OP-Z and Moog Werkstatt and a Yamaha tape mixer to test my setup to record. I need to work out kinks because the tape gets eaten and my minidisc mixer won't eject the disc so I had to record in voice memo straight from an amp using the phone microphone.

When that Moog comes in it is smooooth and waarrrrmmm

Love me a good improv! And glad you kept working through the technical issues to just make it work/happen.

The raw faster beatbox juxtaposes nicely with the slower warm keys to me.

really nice and fuzzy vibes. love those crunchy drums, great improv skills

Ahh such good microtonal sounds. Had to hook up speakers to hear this one. Exciting setup! Can't wait to hear more!

Did you play the keys on the opz? Isn't it a bit tiny and annoying to play?

Sometimes the little technical difficulties make for the nicest sounds.

This is great, I'm excited to hear what else you make this year

Nice lofi vibe; sorry to hear about your adventures recording it.  Probably something to do with that: on my desktop speakers, the bass tone resonates very prominently and by 2:30 overpowers everything else.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments! I'm really enjoying working on this challenge.  I played the keys on this one with an Akai MPKmini MkII plugged into the OP-Z.  I kind of have to, I get a lot of note repeats on mine, so it's either play with an external controller or program everything in beatwise.
