I've been in piano brain this week. On Wednesday I indulged in some retail therapy and had a browse at my local music shop. I came out with 3 new piano books and a new manuscript pad. One of the books is an album of Yann Tiersen compositions. I've always loved his soundtrack for "Amelie", and those pieces are always a hit with friends and students too.
I wanted to write an "Amelie" inspired piece for solo piano. Simple but touching. And yes, I wrote it on the new manuscript paper.
It's still a bit rough around the edges; my Roland FP50 isn't great sounding but I don't have an acoustic at home, and there's something lumpy and disjointed about the relationship between the chords that link each section, but I'm happy to call it finished for now. I can surely revisit it next year.

Very interesting chord progression.
Dreamy and mysterious. Lilting and a bit sad. But a very beautiful piece. Well done!
Very interesting chord progression.
Thanks for listening!
Not familiar with Yann Tiersen, but this is really nice. Even better with a fuller piano sound.
[this is good]

Lovely track. It's been years since I saw Amelie, but this track perfectly soundtracks how I remember it.
