Strange Shift

By Ashen Simian on January 19, 2024 12:35 pm

this time I steered for the epic wierdness. A bit chaotic and strange track with uneasy melodic lines and dissonances. My aim was to use quite common sounds but make them less so by the progressions. Not a very ambient or easy on the ears, but different, at least smile. I already got a much more melodic idea for the next week...

The pompous mono synth lead in the latter half is my trusty old Italian, Crumar DS-2, which I have grown to like quite a bit. I actually use it more than my Minimoog!

It's good to unleash the weird sometimes.  This gives me vibes of exploring the surface of an alien planet.  There's a sense of adventure and discovering the unknown.

Well, I was lulled into ease by the laid-back drum groove and the nice, loose improvised sound of the synth lead. The frequency sweeps (?) and industrial sounds creeping in for an open-ended finish made me look forward to the sequel. Thanks!

I thought this wasn't hard on the ears at all! Really nice track, a bit of a prog feel maybe? Loved the lead synth in the last half, also the crunchy percussive sounds coming in around at 2:30.

There's mystery in this, fit for a cuberpunk espionage scene.
