Lithomancy

Here´s the first half of a track I did this week. In its long version it sort of comes back to the sequencer stuff after a more ambient middle section. But I think this first half is actually enough. It is a bit dark and mysterious, even somewhat pensive. No wonder, regarding what the world is going thru right now, but this also has in my opinion some fighting spirit too, or more precisely the spirit of resilience.

Musically this is what I usually do, my usual set-up featured. The specialities are probably the more harsh sounds from the Ensoniq Fizmo and in the outro, the weird singing is actually sounds of an owl, its call stretched and reversed etc. There´s also most of the pads and the intro done with a Roland D50...

Love the creative use of the owl sounds.  They are very otherworldly.  I agree there's a sense of hope among the darkness here.

the slow build is very nice and relaxing.  I really hope by the end of the year to be able to do something like this.  It's like there is a tension in it...but it's not a tension of holding back or town..but a nice tension...like a tension that can support or something.  Great work

Thanks guys!!!  I tried not to make it too depressing, I am glad that you got the hope vibe there.

Ah yes, stones.

Pretty spooky piece.

Pads on this are really cool

The percussion is killer. Can't get over it.  What are you using? Love the harsh leads towards the end. That owl sounds spooky as all get out. Like a spirit. Great composition!  Downloading smile

That's an owl?! Wild big_smile I have to say, I am really happy I get to hear two of your tracks this week, I ran late last week with everything that's going on but this is a treat, just wonderful heart I'd be very interested in hearing the long version, if you ever decide to release it!

Thanks a lot! Much appreciated smile  The rhythm is actually just a Roland TR09, the new version of the classic 909 in a half size. It is surprisingly good, although just half the size, (actually a bit less in fact)which makes it a bit difficult to tweak. But I run it through a Roland EF-303, which is a great, old unit. It is easy to mangle bread-and-butter drum parts in realtime knobwise, which is truly great. I actually have used it a lot recently with especially drums and sometimes with pads. It has a good ring modulator and a silky flanger...

Thanks! Means lot to me smile  The longer version is basically the same but the owl part is a bit longer and the rhyhmic stuff makes a comeback. Needs a bit more work to make it interesting, but i will put it online, if I find the time to work on it smile
