Flatland

this week I was seriously out of spare time, so I made a technical decision. I didn´t go to my studio space at all, I just took one keyboard (Roland Vsynth), one effect unit (Strymon Big Sky) and a recording device (Fostex R8) to my home and bashed quickly together a few short pieces, when I had a some moments to spare... It was actually very refreshing to work just with one synth and skipping all the midi work. I just used the arpeggiator and played the rest in realtime. I did rather complex rhythms by recording a few minutes of arpeggiator improvisations and then added another track with more of the same. After a few false starts I got the tempos almost synced without any midi and it resulted in interesting  and lively results. I just had to keep the tracks very short, so that the arppegiator tempo stayed more or less the same, without too much drifting. I think I will make the tracks for the nex few weeks with the same method...it was actually quite fun and liberating,

Less is more! Very cool that you manually timed the elements.

Cool to hear how you approached this from a technical standpoint.  The arpeggiators sound great.  I liked the whole vibe of this one.  It was a little minimalistic, but felt like a full arrangement.

I love this minimalistic, looping and slowly evolving tracks. It has something hypnotic. Love it already, but also think building it out to a longer track (just slowly bringing in and out elements) could be great!

It's like outer space in 2 dimensions.
