Week 9 - Never Ender

By Anon_Buster on March 6, 2022 7:20 pm

This was one of the track ideas that kept calling back to me this week. In this song, I wanted to try and get a full sound like I keep hearing in other tracks. I hear about producers using 50+ tracks, and most of them you don't hear. My guess is that they add sonic value to bolster high-low frequency ranges to make a track sound full without taking away from the main instruments. I tried something like that here with delay and reverb as my main effects to fill space with frequencies without being too overpowering. While my tracks aren't sophisticated with a lot of interplay between the parts and music theory, the progress I feel I'm making with each track I finish is exciting. Thanks for listening.

Haha, my whole approach this year is to try to use less tracks because all the unheard stuff was creating too much mud and clutter.  I think you did a really good job on this one at finding a balance with that.  The intro starts out with a lot of space in it, then when you start introducing more elements around 0:30 it makes it sound a lot bigger, but without having to clutter it up.  Love that main riff too, super catchy!

That's a nice track with catchy melodies.
I had not heard of this approach to make tracks, though I have noticed as well how some tracks that are actually pretty low in the mix can make a whole world of difference when mixed in with the rest. Like hard panned guitars that can bring a lot of oomph. Your track sounds good, not muddy and it has a lot of power.

I really like the balance of this track. The core melody stands out nice and bright, and it feels propped up on the rhythm sections. The bass line is simple but it feels great, too.

I'm still not sure what those tracks do, but I guess it's working for you

Yeah, I've run into the more tracks = more mud thing, too, but this doesn't sound muddy at all.  It has a nice full sound and a playful energy.

whenever I watch one of those producer tutorials I feel the same way - UM 56 tracks bro???

I'm sitting here like GUITAR/BASS/VOCALS/DUCK SAMPLE THAT APPEARS ONCE

that's a great idea to max it out on purpose to see what happens.

I mean, I don't know, the main song is still communicated by the lead, bass, and drumbeat and everything else is just xtra flavaz?

Pizza: cheese, sauce, crust
FAMOUS PRODUCERS: ALSO 7,000 spice and herb blend added for taste!

all I know is that when I'm only working with a single track it's hard to keep it sounding muddy wink

your mix sounds good from over here smile

*hard to keep it from sounding muddy
