Challenger II: Drowning In The Floodlights

By angellis on January 23, 2022 11:13 am

So this one was supposed to have vocals, but I ran out of time to record them. The challenge for this was to make a song reminiscent of a late 80s synthpop bands. In my head, I can picture a David Gahan style vocal drenched in reverb over top of this, almost fading into the background and letting the bass line and drums carry the weight of the song.

This is just oozing with personality.

I had to Google David Gahan, but I was thinking "this needs some Depeche Mode vocals".  Glad that was what you were going for.

Those TOMS!!! I am definitely back to the 80's synth pop vibe.

Nice choice of soundscape.

YES! I see a curly haired blonde, being chased by no one, making floaty lost movements with her arms as she dances through a poorly lit set in an old abandoned warehouse with colored see-through streamers floating in violent wind that seems to be blowing everywhere despite the fact that the windows to this abandoned warehouse are all closed and no one knows why she's lost or why there are see-through streamers everywhere, but this was the 80s and this is how shit got done DAMMIT!
and you've captured it so well here, beautiful work!

And just like that, you've produced the world's first music paragraph - a music video for avid readers with a distain for the cinematic world. Brilliant.

Instrumentals are more fondly remembered anyway

Love these instruments btw

What are the toms? I have to know. Lovely song

Thanks! The toms are from Zenheiser's 80s retro drummer pack smile
