Week 1: Self-taught 1 min loop

By AMD24 on January 6, 2024 4:45 pm

Hello! I am Andy. I'm using this project to act as a diary / deadline-creator to help me force myself to be more creative again this year, and I sorely missed writing music so thought I'd give that a crack.

Each week I'll be setting myself a small, manageable goal to slowly build confidence and knowledge, beginning with use of Nanoloop before maybe moving to other software / instruments and focusing on actual compositional knowledge.

All CC would be very much appreciated!

This week's goal was to pay for, open up, and re-familiarise myself with the basics of Nanoloop, before creating a very basic ditty and figuring out how to export and upload to here. Success! It is awful though, hopefully will be the worst thing I output on this site this year by a long way!

Thanks for reading

Nice submission and happy new year! Also a relatively new music maker so no real comments other than develop the loop more. Really like the ear candy beep-boops (kind of telephone ring/chirpy noises).

Yo, it's not awful!  It's pretty cool, just a bit short.  Are you using nanoloop on your computer?  i use Nanoloop on my Analogue Pocket, and am still trying to learn and understand it.

This is a great start. My suggest (grain of salt) would be to try continuing this song into next week, adding layers. This way you have a starting point for your next week. Excited to hear your progression through the year.

Thank you all, you're too kind!

@Cow Tools, I'm currently using it on my phone, though I'll be honest my terrible hand-eye co-ordination is making pressing the small buttons a little cumbersome!

How have you found using the Analogue Pocket? I saw a couple of tutorials today that might be relevant for you (link to one here in case you haven't seen it already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meQK-pX2DMg)
