Recycled Astronaut

This week is is guitar/bass recording again! This time instead of using a portastudio to make the track, I tried recording into Ableton. It was a lot easier interface wise, but I also didn't get any vocals added because ableton (but none of my other DAWs) stopped recording input from my audio interface (after I updated the driver). Which reminds me why I bought the portastudio, haha.

The song is pretty simple again but I did try to focus more on mixing/mastering of this track. My plugins did most of the work, but I can tell they did a better job than me on my own (gotta start somewhere!)

The title came from the chorus that never made it:

Rocket ship from aluminum cans
motor powered by rubber band
wind it up, let's take flight
fling ourselves into the stars tonight

The guitar sound is really pleasant here, and the unison playing with the bass guitar reminds me of some early '90s grunge and punk rock. The drums are hit hard but nicely tucked away in the mix so we can focus on the guitar and bass. Yeah, mixed and mastered well!

I hope you can still record the vocals to this, sounds like a good song! There's definitely space for vocals there.

I can hear the drums and bass and guitar riff line as clear and separate in the mix. Nice job

love this!!
