Midnight Obsession

Picked up last week's instrumental, and recorded a vocal track. And a shaker!
The song is based off the idea of "Revenge Bedtime Procrastination"
Revenge bedtime procrastination is the act of intentionally sacrificing sleep to enjoy personal downtime because you feel you lack control over your schedule during the day. It’s a common coping mechanism where you "retaliate" against a busy, demanding day by staying up late to scroll, stream, or relax
I had intended to try and use the shaker to mask the sound of the metronome I accidentally recorded along with the acoustic guitar part, but it didn't work. I had recently bought some FabFilter plugins, and wow - that made it easier! There's an "analyze" feature, where you can just hover over the spectrum, and it will build up the peaks and label them. I took the metronome wave files, and made like 5 notch filters to drown it out as best as possible and saved it as a preset to put over the guitar part. In the mix, I think it works really well!
Since I already recorded the shaker (in mono), I did a neat thing where I ran it through an Elysia karacter and processed the left/right a bit differently, and it gave it some cool stereo width. I almost did the same with the guitar part, but I had a rare "less is more" moment.
Also, my singing is especially atrocious this week. I didn't think it was possible to be so out of key, but by golly, I did it. It was so bad, I bought Melodyne to make it better the next day. And, It's still not great.
