Waves Won't Hold You

By alonemusic on May 10, 2026 8:31 pm

This track was a tough one.. I started strong, popping my guitar into an open D tuning I picked up from American Football (as usual, check out that new LP too..), then popped a capo on it too..
Great fun layering up, but also being in a new tuning, it suddenly becomes tough to work out the ways to progress.. but hey, we are here to learn.

Today I set aside time to finish, but I've had a really busy week and weekend, and just felt pretty drained. My go to 'fuck it, go big' came in handy.

As has becoem a habit, the weird noises at the beginning come from me messing about with a new tape deck for a live noise show later this year and a Bastl Kastle. The bass line is just my guitar pitched down, so I hope it doesn't sound too shit.

I was pretty to the wire, so the art was done while playing Delta Green..

Enjoy!

Great effort attempting post rock recording within the week!  Great to hear some post rock here too.  I'd love to do some guitar work for WB but I don't like my chances being happy with it in time.  Drums especially.  Nice one!

Solid guitar work. Really like the bass line as well.

The buildup is great.

I really like how wide-dense is the track with the synths layers.

Great track.

It's a shame the waves won't hold me, because I love floating on these sounds

I'm literally crying.
Thats how it touched me.

epic. we enjoyed this during euromeets. wanted to check if you have been in the habit (you haven't? maybe) of mentioning Outer Wilds in your tracks because this one kinda made me think of it, with some epic tearjerking soaring moments. very nice composition, well done

Beautiful work on this one. Love that main riff, and the climax is so lush and powerful!

A gorgeous main theme to get lost in.  The synths soar over the drums and guitar.  But oof the guitars are hypnotic with the different theme variations. Awesome build up at 3:30 that becomes an epic wall of sound \m/ Excellent work!

This is really cool! I love the intro, I'd love to hear some of this noise music too. The guitar sounds great, and I think the bass doesn't sound shit at all

THERE'S A NEW AMERICAN FOOTBALL LP???????
Thank you for sharing the good news!

Also, this is wonderful. I fully relate to that struggle to progress an idea. I find that sometimes the only way is to force it, and that's what weeklybeats really makes me do. I think what you've done here is wonderful, and has a lot of progression to it, it's rich with ideas! Great work, and keep it up!!! smile
