How to Curve

By alonemusic on June 17, 2018 4:15 pm

I got a new toy this week! My partner brought me a Volca FM, and it is indeed a fun thing to play about with. I thought I'd use it for this weeks track, and lo, so I did. Lots of nice FM layer.. lots of big crunchy sounds.

The problem was, how to actually make it a piece of music? Well.. I'm still not sure, but I took a pretty linear path through the whole thing. Enjoy!
Art?

Really cool stuff, lots going on and a real intense atmosphere all the way through. Nice work! Love the art too.

I'm actually not that impressed by the Volca FM, but you managed to get something cool out of it.

This was kind of interesting with the Volca added to the mix.  How do you like it?  I'm saving up to get an Elektron Digitone, which is an FM synth + sequencer.

What were the other musical elements made with?  Nice job!

It's sort of all over the place, and I didn't leave it untouched! The whole end section is nearly all Volca, through various FX, the plinky plunky sound of the intro synths, there is a reverse bass noise in there somewhere.. I even put it through my guitar amp chain towards the end.

I like it! the keyboard it has is kinda useless, and the sequencer has a habit of starting when you don't want it to (and isn't very good) but its a few more knobs to tweak, and fills an FMy hole in my collection of consoles and mini synths.

As a standalone I'm inclined to agree, that keyboard is just rubbish.. but hey, if I can put delay on it I'm a happy boy.
