An Infinite Weight of Water

This week was a little experiment with if I could write in the classic 'mid west emo / American Football' tuning (FACGCE) which, it turns out, really locks you into certain notes... anyway.. if was a bit messy, but it was fun pulling together the layers from an abandoned track earlier in the work.
I really like the 'honks' that come from the Meeblip synth I've used for years but still just twiddle with.

Finally, trying to pull it into a composition was tough, you can probably tell the urge was to go big at the end, but in a little 'no, we do that all the time' I felt it actually resolved nicer with the quiet end. You don't always have to go big James. James.. are you listenign to me? No..

Anyway.. I contiune to work on some very odd lore too. maybe there is a hint in the art? Maybe there isn't..

Love the guitar work there.

There is a lot going on. smile

oh man beautiful chords and sounds! made me think of Outer Wilds again. those chords that just keep pushing but they are not really resolved and just make you think about a million things and opportunities and dreams...

Guitars super nice, drums super nice, tension buildup is beautiful, and the ending is excellent this way, I liked reading about you holding back from going big like you normally do cause this was great! just leaves you wanting more. synths add a cool layer of scifi to it also. man this was one of my favs so far this week

Got a Boards of Canada feel here. Simple, and beautiful!

You should not listen to James, going big is definitely the right answer.

Nice peaceful start, and as it picks up the drums add to the urgency without breaking that ethereal trance. The build at the end is inspiring.

gets better the longer you listen to it

heart heart heart Thanks man, that means a lot! I do need to break out of the Outer Wilds mode at some point, but its such a nice place to explore! What a soundtrack, folk-sci-fi is just such a jam.

The build up came together super quick too! As soon as the guitar line was there I knew the keys had to follow.

Wow, I'm just catching up with your beats that I haven't listened to yet... and you are insanely talented!! Everything is such a treat for the ears and eyes!!

"You don't always have to go big" - wise wise words.

This is great! The tuning sounds wonderful, and instantly very midwest emo which is never a problem in my opinion! I love the way the track builds!
