Eastern Breeze

By Aletheia on July 2, 2022 1:34 pm

Continuing my exploration of how Mutable Instruments Marbles (in the software VCV Rack form) can create quite pleasant patterns, I used it to sequence the 4 layers of a Korg Wavestate, each with an instrument of a certain oriental flavour. On top of this I played some bass then added percussion with the iPad app called Oriental Drummer. As for the generative part, it's a bit dense and even-spaced so I'll look into how I can better modulate the plugin so it alternates in more free flowing phrases.

Yeah, another nicely randomized sound texture!
A good trick for making the generative parts less dense is to modulate velocities/amplitudes. You can probably time two LFOs to control this so that when one instrument is more louder, the other is less so, and vice versa.
I did not feel like it was too dense though I can see your point. smile

Marbles is a great module.  Have used it quite a bit.  Interesting hearing it hooked up to other gear.  Quite like the flute parts here along with the percussion.

A balmy track.
