Change at Dawn

By Aletheia on January 9, 2022 8:37 pm

Greetings to everyone in this challenge, it's going to be a great time!

For this jam I used my Korg Wavestate to create a pad that changes between different textures, string-like, vocal-like and a couple of rhythmic ones. On top of this I improvised a clean guitar part using the Other Desert Cities delay. Tenor-sax was then added via GeoShred on the iPad and the last layer was a bass guitar.

I really like this one, very good work!

Very nice atmosphere!
I want to listen to it when I walk at night.

This is really nice and smooth - I love how everything meshes together!

beautiful! that GeoShred part sounds quite realistic

super chill vibes - thank you

Love this!  I've been eyeing wavestate since they released it, sounds great here.  Nice guitar playing on top of it too.

Nice tune while working - atmospheric and subtle. I love how you used the saxophone here, as sonic layers in the background. That works well.

Love!!! Very I, I

I dug the bass tone

It's like being kissed in my ears

I forgot I was listening to WB with this on.  Great start

I'm glad you think of it this way, hopefully there's more to come for other moments of the day, haha.

It does, doesn't it? It's a great sounding tool and the screen-playing enables some more expressiveness than midi keys.

The Wavestate is a great instrument, even if I would say it's more for getting inspiration as opposed to bringing down a sound that you first have in your head. For the latter case a classic synth is quicker, but otherwise when you feel like tinkering and "what if I follow this sound with this completely unrelated one and make a random rhythm"...you suddenly realize how deep is the rabbit hole.

Thanks, the sax is a very expressive instrument, I hope one day I'll play a real one.

Nice of you to notice that, thanks! I always enjoy playing some proper ol' straight bass guitar after dabbling with sound design for synth parts and crafting the electric guitar tone.

Yeah, some of the same expressiveness as accoustic playing. I’m going to have to check it out.

Yes, and if you don't mind waiting, they have very good offers through the year. Sometimes they offer Geoshred Lite for free and then you can update to Pro for cheap. Same goes for the swam instruments, they are occasionally on offer (like recently they had the bass flute).

Thank you for the tip. I'll keep a watch on the offers
