Written entirely on Dirtywave M8 Tracker
Light mastering in Audacity (normalizing/limiting/compressing).

A continuation of last week's track's outro, which intro was the previous week's outro, which intro was the previous week's outro, which...

This track reuses a few samples from the previous friendly sample challenge. (details on discord).

Sample contributors shoutout:
- N_ronvaldez (Sunset night piano)
- Lizenn (WB SAMPLE 1 and WB SAMPLE 3)
- Endojo (Bass Bow)
- TheDaeVolta (BRASS DMaj)

Wanted to do something Phil Harmonic adjacent.
Did most of the track while on the train during for hours.
Had a real hard time to expand it to something like a real track.
Almost ran out of time (see upload time).
Time and time again.
Time.

(Chords are Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams' but the last is minor, tee hee.)
(The intro's structure was inspired/copied/studied from Drumsound & Bassline Smith's track Close.)

M8 bundle

As always, thanks for listening.

This track is part of an ongoing series, you can listen to the Through the Year mix (WB #4-29) (as of week 29, it is 48 minutes long).

This is the best possible use of train time. Dancing away in my chair.

Love me a good tremolo. Did not expect where this ended up!!! Action packed. High voltage. Hold on to yer bloops

Just read the caption after listening makes sense where the tremolo came from

A wild and energetic ride.  The tremolo is intense and awesome.

aggressive and energetic. definitely hear Phil in this. great drums, lovely wub wubs and lovely arps to wrap it up. superb job with this one.

very cool even before the drop, hot dancefloor backstage elevator type vibes

Superb! smile I like the bitcrushing and volume fade effects and I wub the wubs heart!
Was that "Why wont you collab with me" tag some passive aggression? lol.

Please respect the chair dancing procedure, do not put yourself in danger.

Yay, it's always a struggle making things not too repetitive, if you were surprised here and there, then mission accomplished!

Endojo's bass sample's natural tremolo has been enhanced with two LFO on cutoff and amp (with added distortion).

You're too kind. Drums are all sample loops, it was the least worked on part but sounds honestly the best! 😂

Careful, dancing in an elevator while listening to loud music can cause permanent ear damage.

Proud to have made you proud. heart
Collaboration may or may not come another time.

To all, thanks for listening! 🙇

hell yeah! super cool, love the heavy bass synth, gives it a character

I also took some chords from song I like, it's cool in my book big_smile

amazing dnb! I also love the idea of expanding the outro, I know you've been doing that for a long time, but it still is cool

very good production value btw, sounds really well done

Cool tune! Lots of neat little things going on. And it keep developing, I like that. In the best possible way, this feels much longer than it actually is. So much happening a short time. Could have easily been twice as long without boring me. Good stuff!

oh damn! this has got me groovin! awesome work on this! def inspiring me to take a stab at something like this. i've always been a sucker for dnb stuff but i can never really make the feel fit whats in my brain. great track! love that ending arp/solo

Wow! That's one mean track! Very nice buildup and very rewarding from there on out! You killed it!

Those are some fat fat intro chord.

Ooof the big wubs and the build up.

It's kind of like dubstep, but with an oldskool rave flavour, extremely cool.

This needs some visuals from a low poly racing game.

daaaaaang this is tough! really cool use of the samples, and the mix sounds so big. the adventure continues!

yeah but the drums are from where?

It's actually Endojo's friend's acoustic bass, just a sample with a couple LFOs!
I had input a few notes when it striked me that the chords were very familiar, then went for it fully but switched the last one to avoid being just a copy.
(Did plagiarize one of Close intro note patterns though. Hell, it's just two notes, your honor.)

It's always a fear of mine, to be boring, so it pushes me to change ideas a bit quickly.
I should try to use more long evolving LFOs to make things interesting even with repetition.

Come with us! Also a long term fan of DnB, it really helped a lot to base myself (at least the intro) on an existing track and study its structure, as opposed of just coming up with something from memory (it's hard).

Geez, thanks! Have a great week.

With a bass like this, maybe it more like Neurostep or something, genres are hard...!
Another friend told me "I feel like being in a high speed racing game".
Need For Speed's OSTs really did a great job on popularizing the genre to the masses.

Thanks for being a companion on this journey. Stay tuned for more! (No making any promises I can't keep though, ha ha.)

All the different breaks used in this track come from MUZZ's Drum & Bass Essentials.

To all, thanks for tuning in! It means a lot. 🙏

Definitely. LFOs are your friend.

My general philosophy in music is you want to change the least amount possible that you can get away with. And just before things get boring, change things up a little bit. If you change too fast and too much, there is nothing to latch onto as a listener. Do too little, and indeed, it grows stale.

Where that threshold is for when things get boring depends on style and genre. As well as personal tastes, of course. But repetition legitimizes. Not just when playing a bum note and repeating it to make it seem intentional. But also to find the groove. And if the groove is good, it can last a long, long time. So if your core idea is strong, you won't have to change much to keep things fresh. And your ideas are strong enough. So trust them and let them stand for a while. And add some subtle modulations via LFOs, indeed. Just to keep things moving before jumping to the next idea. You've got this!

The aggression is rampant in this. But not in a offensive way. It's such a ride. Colorful yet familiar use of the samples, too. It's inspiring to see.

I mean this with all the love in the world: at 1:30ish on that brilliant little build and woomf and awesome, the reese becomes this fantastic Little Guy ™️ just talking and singing up a storm to us and it's absolutely amazing lol. Loved every moment here heart

Really dig this. I hope at some point the m8 will become a more fluent process for me. I like the way this track flows.
