Beheaded Naga

By AdB on February 1, 2026 10:02 pm

First time I'm not very happy with the track I am submitting - I was initially quite proud of the bassline and wanted to structure the track around some kind of counterpoint which didn't work well. I also wanted the track to feel more like a raw, live take of some sorts but it ended up being a little lame.

Originally the track was supposed to be called "7 Headed Naga" : I decided to work with a 7/4 time sig and sound design everything around this idea of a giant, ancient snake. I ran out of time (hence the actual title) but think the idea can be great, so I expect the Naga to come back at some point in 2026.

Thanks for reading and listening anyway smile

52 weeks, they can’t all be hits in your eyes

but moreover that often has little correlation to how they sound to everyone else…

didn’t even notice this was in 7, just grooved naturally 🤘

There's definitely some really good bits here, like everything after 1:17. You can easily fill an entire song with that.

Sounds like phases to a boss battle. 7/4 gives it a neat feel.

That bass line is awesome!
Time can be a bitch and not all children are beautiful😂

Amazing punchyness of the track. I am looking forward to hearing the full 7-headed naga at some point this year

Thanks ! Yeah most of the time I feel I just HAVE to stack things in my songs - very afraid things may get boring, but it more often than not undermines the integrity of the track. I'll consider focusing on this section for the next installment in the Naga series, thanks smile !

Haha you're right! Thank you very much for the feedback - I tried to emulate the sound of analog bass synth with the digitone's FM engine and yeah I did enjoy the result!

Thank you very much !! The naga will rest a bit for now but I will try to do an improved version with all of your comments smile

My Naga!! Lots of good stuff going on, I’ll be on the lookout for any Naga sighting later in the year.
