The Tibetan Drumming Bowl

By Abludo on May 5, 2024 6:51 pm

This week a Tibetan Singing Bowl got delivered to work by accident, and Amazon didn't want it back so I took it home.

EVERY sound in this weekly beat is made from a recording of that singing bowl.

I had a great time just bending these samples into what I wanted. The pads, melody and bass are pretty self explanatory - just looping the samples at different speeds and pitches with distortion plugins.

The kick was really hard to make so it's not great- but I really like how I was able to get a hihat sound out of the bowl by modifying a tap sound.

(Towards the second half I add in 2 breakbeats but other than that and the crash cymbal in the background, everything else is just made in Logic's sampler using the bowl)

Had good fun making this. It's been a while.

What a cool idea and well executed, dancing in my chair over here!

wow. insanely cool, dude. sounds sooo good!!

Woah crazy you were able to get all this out of a singing bowl, especially that M1 Organ sounding bass
