Lockdown

For my final week abroad, most of it was spent in isolation due to COVID... I once again used my samples from last month, and crafted a beat from it. My favourite part is where I've sampled my own drum beat into a chaotic breakbeat.

oh damn. covid sucks. if there was any positive from it, it would be this track.

I love how the bassline and melody interact. And I'm always a fan of breakbeat destruction big_smile

I think I'll need to go through your previous weeks now.

hope you are feeling a lot better sad

beautiful arps in the back.  really good mix.  drums aren't too loud or bumping, and they are nice with the other pieces.  you actually let the pattern and energy of the drums, speak for themselves instead of overcompensating by making them loud.  well done.  i get too excited with drums and just turn them up too loudly.

this reminds me in a really good way of the exapunks soundtrack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gU4l9yTVy7s&list=PLhC7SVuVt8CACnArKOHuU_S1nhuY5zitq&index=5

until the breakbeat bit, which is way too active for that game's background music, but is super refreshing here

the cooldown around 2:12 is so nice, almost feeling like a half-time return but hinting at the breakbeat energy

Really chill, love the breakbeat break too
get well soon

Thanks!! I actually mixed this at the airport trying to drown out the sounds of screaming children and announcements with my headphones!

Oh, no disrespect to your wonderful "Tame Impala"-ish late sounds, though I really enjoy when you get back to the fast breaks and "reezy" basslines!

Lovely track, indeed.
