Before And...

This song is one I've been working really hard on for most of the last 3 days. It's for a uni assignment, where we have to compose 7-9 minutes for up to 8 performers. I'm about half way, but the result is a sort of double-song that goes from house to indie, with transition sections.

I'm particularly proud of the chord patterns, the lyrics (which are about *before and after* being separated from my girlfriend in lockdown, and those difficulties despite knowing it was going to happen) and the triplet drum beat that converts the piece into 6-8 at the end, which I recorded myself after many attempts.

The final version will have a string-based 6-8 section and then a recap to the house section. Lots of work, and scoring, to follow...

This was really good, the transition from electronic to indie vibes was really subtle and didn't notice we entered new territory until we were already there. The string sections really compliment the music and I enjoyed your vocal parts. I could definitely see that 6/8 bit being an excellent pivot point into the second half of the song you plan on writing.
