Safety Beyond the Mountains

By 4ntler on February 15, 2026 8:29 pm

After crossing a hazardous mountain pass, the mythril mining village is a welcome respite in your travels.

After spending a lot of time massaging samples last week (I even recorded my voice at one point), as well as falling ill halfway through it, this week I just wanted to sit behind the piano and do a sweet village theme. Counterpoint, lotta minor modal harmonies.

At one point during the process I imagined this mountain village with smoking chimneys of the smithies, and the image stuck with me.

As always, hope you like it, and see you next week!

Love the speed change

As long as they do not delve too greedily and too deep for that mithril! I like it a lot, beautiful composition.

The bread-and-butter of early vgm, right! Thank you for listening smile

Those sneaky arps at 0:34 - cute as heck. The panning on the background harmonies also works very nicely. Sweet track

Hope you’re feeling better, I swear I heard a quack or two in there, I think you nailed the whole idea perfectly.

So RPG! i can totally see the village!

Thank you for asking, yeah, feeling a lot better this week!

I can totally hear those duck quack or seagull sounds, haha. 100% certified rural energy!

RPG's in my DNA, hehe

Peak! (pun intended)

Such a lovely theme and how the bass/ostinato helps tell the story with the lead melody.  I need a walkthrough for this game! \m/

Ahw, I think that's a really nice way of phrasing it. Yeah, they're sorta telling the story together smile

I'll let you know when I've built a game around this heart

Love this. I'm sick and playing SNES RPGs as comfort food and this is on-point for me lol

Ahwww, hope you’ll feel better soon hmm You managed to get something in?

RPG village themes are the vgm equivalent of mama’s chicken soup.

Love it, even if the lead doesn't quite fit the style of the others.
