Transport yourself back to an 80's concert and dance your worries away in the breeze of a Japanese summer afternoon.

This week I wanted to try my hand at Japanese Jazz Fusion—music from bands like T-Square and Cassiopeia. I actually got inspired by some more modern tracks by Sam Greenfield. Super happy and sweet, with a healthy amount of cheese. You can inject this stuff straight into my veins.

Not sure why I thought this was a good plan on Saturday afternoon though xD. Jazz Fusion is super intensive on the harmony front, and I spent quite some time getting the instruments to sound just right for that authentic EWI sound. Did learn a lot about FM synthesis, though!

I'm super proud of how the solo turned out (of course this has to have a solo). Wish I could play like this in real life, I imagine it to feel liberating. heart

The lead is so creamy and smooth, like white chocolate. Harmonies are impeccable.

The rhythms in this are fantastic! Great composition and instruments as well heart

Took me a long while to find the right sound, so I appreciate that comment a lot. smile It had way more sustain and was more squarey first, but it didn't really work.

Thanks! Tried switching it up a bit this time, this genre needs more than a four to the floor.

You asked last week, but with a track like this knowing music theory helped out a lot when I was stuck.

man this is going hard. love it! need a big band performance of that now

Oooh, that'd be so cool! #lifegoals

Great track, love the chord progressions so much. That intro sting is also *chef's kiss*

love the lead melody on this - i'm getting beach resort vibes

Love the melodies in this and the bass is so slick.  Has a nice Sonic/Sidescroller feel to it too.  The solo so good and that lil stop/go sting is infectious.  Well done!

Also a staple of the genre, an intro string big_smile

J-fusion high five! Nice how you get to know other people through WB in this way, huh? Never thought you were into Cassiopeia!

Hahaha, it's that I've lived in Japan for half a year, or I wouldn't have gotten any of those references.

Though I was boppin' down Family Mart and bought me some Ito En cold green tea. Yum!
